Villanova Soccer Adds The Son of a Global Beauty Queen

 

How many people say that they beat Halle Berry at a beauty contest? Well, Villanova's newest soccer player Kye West's mother can make that claim. After an innocuous press release and a simple google search, I realized that Kye's mother Giselle Laronde was crowned Miss World in 1986 representing Trinidad & Tobago, and even appeared on a Trinidadian postage stamp. So yeah, I don't know how good this kid is in soccer, but his mom was a big freaking deal in 1986, which is awesome because that was the year the Mets last won the World Series, and Top Gun was released in theaters.
